A very powerful wine that delivers blackcurrant fruit, spice and strong tannin in great harmony. There is a silkiness to this wine that is the source of its elegance. The finish is smooth and lingering.

Chateau Tour Haut Vignoble

Chateau Tour Haut Vignoble was founded in 1861. The peculiarity of the vineyard, having been acquired over generations, is that it is divided into more than twenty plots scattered throughout the city of Saint-Estèphe making it highly representative of the appellation.

Three quarters of the plots are located in deep gravel areas and deserve the term "Upper Vineyard". The remaining quarter brings a happy complementarity with its clay-limestone soils.

The grape varieties planted are typical of the Medoc and includes Cabernet Sauvignon (55%) which forms the backbone of wine. Merlot (40%) which ripens earlier and is more fruity it brings flexibility and roundness to the wine. Petit Verdot (5%) excels on particularly well draining soils and promotes aroma and flavour complexity of wines.

The vineyard planting density is high which ensures good competition between the vines. They are looked after carefully to ensure the grapes arrive in the winery in excellent condition.
