About This Wine
Domaine de Mourchon
Nestled within a serene valley between the charming village of Séguret and the imposing Mont Ventoux stands Domaine de Mourchon, a winery crafted into existence by the visionary McKinlay family in 1998. Initially boasting around twenty hectares of mature vines but lacking a proper winemaking facility, the McKinlays forged ahead, embracing cutting-edge technology and exacting standards. Their dedication bore fruit in 2000 with the completion of a state-of-the-art winery.
Perched on terraced hillsides, this vineyard, averaging an altitude of 350 meters, boasts a soil predominantly composed of clay and grey limestone. This unique blend, coupled with an exceptional microclimate, bequeaths the estate an unparalleled terroir. Diligent care is bestowed upon the vines using a blend of natural and organic techniques—known as ‘agriculture raisonnée’ in France. This union of traditional and modern vinification methods culminates in wines that exhibit robust structures, enticing fruit aromas, and vibrant colours.
Notably, the Domaine Mourchon Grande Reserve recently claimed a prestigious spot in Wine Spectator's Top 100 wines of 2023, solidifying the estate's ongoing legacy of excellence. Their wines continue to garner international acclaim and great reviews, a testament to their commitment to quality and innovation.
