Domaine Philippe Charmond

Domaine Philippe Charmond is a distinguished wine producer located in the picturesque village of Vergisson, nestled in the heart of the Burgundy region in France. Situated just 10 km west of Mâcon and surrounded by the captivating natural beauty of a vast park, including the renowned rocks of Solutré and Vergisson, the Domaine enjoys a privileged setting.

Spanning 8 hectares of land, Domaine Philippe Charmond cultivates vineyards in the revered appellations of Pouilly Fuissé, Saint Véran, and Mâcon village blancs, with a focus on the Chardonnay grape variety. These vineyards yield exquisite wines known for their fruitiness, refreshing character, and approachability.

The vineyards of Domaine Philippe Charmond thrive on predominantly clay-limestone soils, showcasing a variety of geological formations ranging from marl to limestone shale. The favourable climate, characterized by harsh winters and hot summers, lends itself to the successful cultivation of grapes. However, Domaine acknowledges the challenges posed by global warming, which has begun to impact the region's climate patterns.

The dedication to producing exceptional wines is evident in the meticulous practices employed at Domaine Philippe Charmond. Most of the harvest is carried out by hand, ensuring careful selection and preservation of the grapes' quality. Whole harvest pressing is employed, followed by vinification primarily in 225-litre barrels and stainless steel tanks equipped with temperature control systems. To maintain optimal conditions year-round, the bottles are stored in a semi-underground cellar, meticulously regulated to maintain consistent humidity and temperature levels.

Domaine Philippe Charmond's commitment to crafting exquisite wines is reflected in their meticulous attention to detail, respect for the land, and dedication to traditional winemaking techniques. Their wines capture the essence of the Burgundy region, offering wine enthusiasts a delightful and memorable experience with each sip.
